Everything else so so much better on the 11. Using the touchscreen becomes a chore on the bigger one after a while. 11" if you value portability 12.9 if you need a big drawing surface for procreate, etc. If you don't need a big drawing surface and already have a decently sized laptop then get the 11".12.9, perfect for media consumption. 1. KomboKenji. •. Got the 11” because the 12.9 is TOO heavy, like when I went to the Apple Store to test all the iPad variants that one I couldn’t hold like the others in my hand for a long time, and that was a huge factor for me since I wanted to use it like a sketchbook. If you do any type of heavy content editing or music production, i would recommend the macbook pro as it has a few more detailed features that they don’t offer in-app. but as far as every day use as you explained, i will always recommend the iPad Pro. but please for the love of god, get applecare. 3. sheepherd-mat5. From what I’ve seen, the 12.9 would have been like bringing my MacBook Pro 13 inch in terms of weight. Addition: For students, I couldn’t imagine using the iPad Pro as a laptop replacement, regardless of size. I’ve run into a few situations where the OS couldn’t accommodate some basic online learning portals used to submit assignments.
The 11 vs 12.9 debate is as old as the 12.9 itself. It just really depends on you and your tolerance for a bigger, heavier device. I personally prefer the 12.9 because I prefer the bigger screen and I can handle the extra 1/2 pound. But the 11" is a lot easier to handle and carry with you. So it really depends on you.

If it’s an accessory device to say a desktop or MacBook, then the 11 is fine. You’ll appreciate the extra screen size especially in the editing (I do music and light video editing). iPad Pro M1 11 inch vs 12.9 inch. Hey guys, I would appreciate some advice on what iPad I should get. I’m in the process of upgrading my 2017 iPad Pro to an m1 iPad Pro. However after finding out that the 12.9 inch iPad has an xdr display which I understand to be the display where black is really black, I’m unsure whether it’s worth it So I actually changed from the 11 to the 12.9 and honestly the 12.9 I can read write and multitask so much better. Reading holding the 12.9 is tiresome but with the smart keyboard as a stand I have zero issues. Writing on the 12.9 versus the 11in is so much better as the keyboard is like a regular size keyboard.I’ve got a 2018 11” iPad Pro and just purchased a 12.9” 5th gen to compare the screen sizes. I primarily use the iPad for illustration and as a travel option over my 2012 MacBook Pro. I loved the 11” for portability and the weight holding it, and it really made my whole digital drawing setup SO much better. The battery life is crazy
