Cod4 and bo1 are probably the 2 best campaigns in the franchise. If you want one purely for the fun factor, go with bo3. But if you're looking for best cod games to play in order, I suggest you go with cod black ops 1, black ops 2, and then black ops 3. Advanced warfare is also a generally fun game.

Ghosts came right after the very popular Black Ops II, so fans were primed to buy anything Call of Duty released at the time of Ghosts launch. That game introduced some new concepts, like being able to play as a German Shepherd in the campaign, but fans were also slightly disappointed with its recycled use of the campaign's format and structure. As a result, Logan Walker is among the worst Call of Duty characters. In fact, he might even be the worst character at this point. Today we took a look at the worst campaign characters in the Call of Duty franchise. Of course, games such as Advanced Warfare, Black Ops Cold War could also be included in this list, but these characters lead the list. MW3 while MW2.5 played significantly better than Ghosts and therefore for me it’s better. Not to mention the superior campaign and third mode. most of yous prefer MW3, but Ghosts are my all-time favourite (hoping for sequel) MW3 for me gets a lot of credit because of the way they handled DLC.
Ghosts campaign isn't important for both MW timelines, Ghosts is its own universe/story. Ah, ok, thanks! It's not important to the overall lore but it does get better over time. There's some quality gameplay in the later missions, so I'd say just push thru and see if u can't find a mission you enjoy by the end of it.
